Infectious and hormonal investigations

Before initiating ART treatment, in addition to the obligatory blood group result, it is necessary to perform an infection screening package.

Patients are asked to perform basic screening package covering

  • anti-HIV 1.2 antibodies;
    anti-HBc antibodies;
  • anti-HCV antibodies;
  • anti-HBs antibodies;
  • cytomegalovirus antibodies (IgG and IgM);
  • HBs antigen
  • VDRL

Women are additionally screened for:

  • rubella antibodies (IgG and IgM)
  • antibodies against toxoplasmosis (IgG and IgM)
  • endocervical swab for Chlamydia Trachomatis

Hormonal tests are also an essential element of infertility diagnosis. Prior to treatment, hormones such as LH, FSH, prolactin and oestradiol are measured to establish an individualized treatment approach.

It is important to measure the AMH level. Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) is an indicator used to assess ovarian reserve. The serum level of this hormone does not depend on the day of the menstrual cycle. The AMH test is useful in the diagnosis of PCOS and in predicting the onset of menopause.

Testosterone, which is responsible for the function of the seminal vesicles, is of particular importance in the diagnosis of men. Testosterone overproduction in women can lead to polycystic ovary syndrome and fertility problems.
