IMSI is an IVF technique.
It is similar to ICSI, except that high-magnification sperm selection is performed before fertilization.
Owing to the IMSI technique, embryologists are able to better assess the sperm structure and exclude abnormal sperm cells. Spermatozoa are assessed under high magnification (over 6000x) and if abnormalities are detected, excluded from fertilization.
